Another Hot City Nights event was held at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, N.M., Saturday night under 1130-degree heat, Rocko Gallardo picked up his first Vado win.

The USRA Modified main saw Ricardo Olague Jr. and Rocko Gallardo sitting on row one.

At the drop of the green, Olague took the lead entering turn one but Gallardo used the high-side momentum to take the lead as they raced down the back-stretch.

The leaders raced hard out front for the lead while Jonathon Ortega, Royal Jones, Xavier Ortega and Tom Georges battled just behind.

As the race wore on, Ortega was able to break away from the battle for third and begin to run down the top two while Nick Rivera joined the mix as well.

Gallardo continued to lead, but now had heavy pressure form Ortega who began to work the low side of the track in search of a way into the lead.

Rivera closed on the lead duo as laps wound down as well but Gallardo was up to the challenge and able to hold off Rivera in a near-photo-finish for his first win at VSP.

Rivera nipped Ortega for second with Jones and Olague rounding out the top five.

The Vado Speedway Park will be back in action Saturday, June 19, at 7:30 p.m. with a Father’s Day Weekend event where the first 100 dads will get a complimentary Vado Speedway Park can coozie and all dads will be entered into a drawing for some great prizes at intermission.

Pits open at 4 with the grandstands opening at 5.
