Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa, played host to the hottest racing action in the area Saturday night as drivers in four Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series classes competed against one another on the 1/4-mile speedway.

It didn’t come easy in the USRA B-Mod feature race for hometown racer Dan Hovden, but the track points leader so far this season got it done as he picked up the win after starting eighth in the race.

Hovden held off Troy Hovey and Kyle Anderson. Caledonia, Minnesota’s Taylor Skauge grabbed fourth place while Danny Sacquitne rounded out the top five.

The win was Hovden’s fifth of the 2020 season at Upper Iowa Speedway.

In the Mensnk Racing Products USRA Hobby Stock division, Josh Ludeking made it two-for-two on the weekend—he won Friday night at the Fayette County Speedway—as he made the most of his first-place starting spot by leading all 18 laps of the feature race.

Not far behind Ludeking’s No. 81 Hobby Stock was second- and third-place finishers Steve Larson and Chris Hovden, who battled back and fourth for the runner-up spot throughout the entire race. Austin Hoeft and Dylan Clinton rounded out the top five.

After recording three runner-up feature finishes at UIS so far this season, Kyle Falck was finally able to notch his first win of the season at his home track, advancing from fifth to first in the American Racer USRA Stock Car main event.

Falck had to fend off a couple of the best in the business throughout the race, but ultimately prevailed ahead of fellow Decorah drivers Keven Donlan and Mitch Hovden.

Fourth place in the Stock Car feature went to Brady Link, a driver who has been one of the top talents in the USRA Hobby Stock class over the past several years. His first top five in the class came in only his second night behind the wheel of his No. 15L machine. Grabbing the fifth spot was Brayden Gjere.

Josh Hills from Elkader wrapped up a stellar weekend in his USRA Tuner by claiming win number two in as many nights. After grabbing the hardware on Friday night in West Union, Iowa, Hills cruised to another feature win in Decorah.

Division points leader Brad Stahl grabbed runner-up honors while third through fifth went to Ben Horsfall, John Gill and Josh Harms.

The 2020 season is set to wrap up next Saturday, August 29, at Upper Iowa Speedway as the speedway is scheduled to hold its Season Championships for all four USRA classes.

There are several points battles to keep an eye on next week, including in the B-Mod division where Dan Hovden holds a 48-point lead of Taylor Skauge. In the Hobby Stock class, Steve Larson will enter the final night of racing with a 41-point lead over Chris Hovden and 61-point lead over Josh Ludeking. Stahl carries a 57-point advantage over Josh Harms in the Tuner class, while Mitch Hovden has virtually locked up the Stock Car championship as he leads Kevin Donlan by 97 points.

Hot laps for the season finale race will be held at 6 p.m. with racing to follow.
