Jackson finds winners circle at Lebanon Midway Speedway
Kris Jackson is joined by his son, Carter, after winning the USRA B-Mod main event at the Lebanon Midway Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., on Friday, July 17, 2020.
Two-time and defending USRA B-Mod national champion Kris Jackson of Lebanon took the lead on lap 6 from Cole Campbell after a spirited battle early and then withstood a lap-18 restart from current track and national points leader Dillon McCowan to take home $400 for winning Friday night's feature before a large crowd.
After three exciting qualifying heats and a top-8 redraw, the 20-lap feature found Campbell setting a smooth pace on the start with Jackson from the third spot getting around outside front row driver John Seets III with McCowan, Shawn Whitman and Tyler Knudtson close behind.
Campbell was in strong form running the low groove as Jackson, who brought out his new Rage Chassis last week, was looking inside and out on Campbell as Jackson had to fend back Seets for the spit as McCowan went upstairs to close ground while two-wide action was the call all the way through the pack.
After the great battle up front, Jackson made his move by moving up a couple of lanes while rolling out of turn 4.
As Jackson took over, McCowan gave chase to Campbell as Austin Seets and Mitchell Franklin were overcoming some bad luck in the heats and were moving up the leader board.
The first caution waved on lap 9 as Campbell picked the bottom lane on the restart. McCowan swung outside and took advantage of the restart and moved by Campbell to grab second place.
Jackson couldn't shake McCowan as the duo still had Campbell to fend back while John Seets III, Knudtson, Dayton Pursley, Donnie Jackson and 18th-starting Austin Seets and Franklin plus four others were racing hard for the spots.
Just as Jackson thought he had things under control the caution waved on lap 18, setting up a tight finish as the pack doubled-up for the short sprint.
On the restart, Campbell made a charge on McCowan for second as Kris Jackson opened a three-car-length advantage as Campbell overtook McCowan as the white flag flew while little brother Austin Seets pulled big brother John Seets III for the fourth spot and was coming quick as McCowan went back to the middle lane then top side to just nip Campbell for the runner-up spot as Kris Jackson took home the checkered.
After just finishing up the new car last week and just making it to the track in time, Kris Jackson got his first win with only three races on the car.
Following the winner to the line was McCowan in a near photo-finish over Campbell, Austin Seets, John Seets III, Franklin, Pursley, Donnie Jackson, Dustin Atkinson and Knudtson.
