Nelson takes checkers on night one of The Legendary 100

NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (Sept. 11, 2025)—Cade Nelson of Hermantown, Minn., emerged victorious in the USRA Late Model feature on Thursday, securing the win on the opening night of The Legendary 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway.
The two-time and defending USRA Late Model national champion, who started in fourth, masterfully worked his way through the field to claim the top spot.
The podium was rounded out by Adam Prieve of Litchfield, Minn., finishing second after starting on the pole. Patrick Kletschka of New Richmond secured third place, giving the local crowd a reason to cheer.
Rounding out the top five were Menomonie racers Ryan Howe in fourth, and Cooper Sundby in fifth.
The rest of the top ten included Clayton Hofteig of Elk River, Minn.; Cam Panitzke of Lonsdale, Minn.;, Lucas Peterson of Stockholm;, Scott Splittstoesser of Cottage Grove, Minn.; and Mitchell Fenske of New Richmond.
Earlier in the evening, Adam Prieve topped qualifying, setting the fastest time on the track. The victory for Nelson sets a high standard for the rest of The Legendary 100. which continues Friday and Saturday.
