The Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series launched at Crawford County Speedway on Friday, delivering an action-packed night of racing. Fans witnessed intense competition across the USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods divisions, with the top three finishers in each feature showcasing skill and determination on the red clay oval.
The USRA Modifieds set the tone for the evening with a pair of competitive races. In the heat race, local driver Matthew Bolton of Van Buren started second and held off a strong challenge to claim first. Mountainburg's James Drummond, starting from the pole, secured second, while Fred Ramsey of Fayetteville battled from fourth to take third.
The B Feature saw Drummond turn the tables, starting second but seizing the lead to take the win. Bolton, starting first this time, settled for a close second. Unfortunately, both Ramsey and Jessie Rhoades of Hartshorne were unable to start the race
In the USRA B-Mods, Devin Barker of Elkins proved unstoppable. Starting second in the heat, Barker piloted his No. D97 to victory, fending off Brodey Slader of Muskogee, who started third and finished second. Alma's Johnathan Ferrari rounded out the podium.
The B Feature mirrored the heat, with Barker again taking the top spot from the second starting position. Slader followed closely for another second-place finish and Ferrari held steady in third despite starting first. Jeremy Howell of Fort Smith finished fourth.
The two-day Season Opener culminates Saturday with racing featuring USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods starting at 7:30 p.m. Also on the card will be Pure Stocks, Stock Cars, Front-Wheel Drives, Mini Stocks and Factory Stocks.
The Crawford County Speedway is a 3/8-mile semi-banked red clay oval located off of I-40 at exit 5, then 6 miles north to 7118 N Hwy 59, Van Buren, AR 72956.
