WEST PLAINS, Mo. -- The West Plains Motor Speedway will host the 22nd Annual West Plains Show-Me Modified Championship on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 4-6, with USRA RHS Modifieds battling for a combined $5,000 to win on Friday and Saturday.

Thursday is practice night, but with a twist.

The fastest car in practice on Thursday night will be eligible for a provisional starting spot in Saturday's main event while the second-fastest car during Thursday's practice session will earn a provisional slot in Friday's show.

Friday pays $2,000 to win and $200 to start while a top prize of $3,000 awaits the victor on Saturday night with at least $300 guranteed to each of the starters.

Friday Purse: 1. $2000, 2. $1000, 3. $750, 4. $700, 5. $650, 6. $550, 7. $450, 8. $350, 9. $250, 10. $225, 11-24. $200.

Saturday Purse: 1. $3000, 2. $1500, 3. $900, 4. $850, 5. $750, 6. $650, 7. $500, 8. $400, 9. $350, 10. $325, 11-24. $300.

West Plains Motor Speedway officials have also announced that they will reward 100 bonus track points each night to American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series competitors.

After an off-season that was busier than most tracks are during the height of the racing season, the new owners and management of the West Plains Motor Speedway welcomed fans, drivers, crew members, sponsors and their families to the first night of weekly racing on Saturday night, April 2, with 29 USRA RHS Modifieds in atendance.

Thousands of hours and dollars later, dozens of renovations and upgrades have given the popular 3/8-mile oval new life.

The West Plains Motor Speedway is a 100-acre motorsports facility with American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series events on Saturdays that feature USRA RHS Modifieds, Crate Late Models, B-Mods, Super Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Youth Hobbys.

Motorsports enthusiasts are amazed at the power and excitement of racing on the 3/8-mile red clay oval surrounded by seating that will accommodate more than 12,000 fans. Fans can enjoy the action from their choice of molded contour seating, ground level bleachers or high-rise stadium style seating. On-site camping is available free of charge with clean restrooms, showers, water fill and a dump station for motor homes. Full service food and souvenir concessions are conveniently located within the facility along with acres of free parking.

The West Plains Motor Speedway is located 6 miles south of West Plains on US 63.
