USRA 2021 rules published, ready for download

The 2021 rules for all USRA-sanctioned divisions in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series have been posted on the USRA website at usraracing.com/rules and are available for competitors to download and print.

“As we have since we started (the USRA) in 2002, we keep an eye on the financial ramifications to competitors for every line in the rulebook but we also want to foster American-made ingenuity,” said USRA president Todd Staley. “Zero changes is always the easiest on pocketbooks, but we also have to be aware of the direction each class is heading and what regulations will either slow it’s growth or help it expand.”

There are no major changes for any division heading into 2021, Staley added.

“We’ve really stepped up our game over the past couple of seasons with regards to research, testing and studying on-track results of the different rules packages,” said Director of Track Operations Bryce Hall. “We feel we have a superior, solid rules package over the alternative, and that has resulted in a big increase in the number of sanctioned racetracks.”

The USRA has grown from 28 tracks hosting 60 sanctioned divisions in 2018 to 49 tracks hosting 105 divisions during the 2020 racing season—and during a pandemic no less.

There are currently eight divisions sanctioned for competition in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series. The list includes USRA Modifieds, American Racer USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks, USRA Limited Mods, Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks, USRA Tuners and USRA Late Models.

And while the organization is not the biggest or oldest in the dirt track racing sphere, the cost of licensing and mandated parts is equal to or less than the USRA’s competition while the USRA track, regional and national points funds are as lucrative—and usually more so—than similar organizations twice its size.

All class rules are posted except USRA Tuners. Those rules will be published the first week of December.
