The Show-Me Stock Car Shootout is in the history books of I-35 Speedway. Saturday's event culminated with the Christie Door Company Iron Man Challenge built by Medieval Chassis featuring American Racer USRA Stock Cars battling for $3,000 to win.

Thirty-eight of the top racers in the division arrived for a chance to claim the $3,000 that went with the win with a strong field of USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods on hand too.

The super-smooth dry slick track provided an outstanding race in the USRA B-Mods. Shadren Turner held off early challenges from Nic Hanes, Tyler Cadwallader and Ethan Isaacs but as the laps wore on it was Cadwallader making the charge out of turn two and taking Isaacs with him to claim the checkered flag.

Hanes was third, Turner fourth and Chase Galvan finished fifth. “B” feature winner Lonnie Hibner drove up to a sixth-place finish.

The USRA Modifieds was a battle between Mark Dotson and Austin Johnson. Dotson grabbed the lead from his outside front row starting spot but he was hounded by young Johnson all 20 laps.

Johnson could pull even on the straights but could never get the lead as Dotson claimed the win.

Third was Tyler Hibner, fourth was Darren Shaw and fifth was Houston Johnson.

The American Racer USRA Stock Cars were the main event for the night. Qualifying heat race winners were Jesse Sobbing, Doug Keller, Pat Graham and Troy Hansmeier and “B” feature winners were Mich Ross and Abe Huls.

The computer-generated top 8 redraw put two-time Iron Man series champ Derek Green on the pole with local driver Kacey Shields on the outside of the front row. At the drop of the green the shootout was on as Green led the early laps while holding off numerous challenges but 30 laps was tough on his tires.

The top-five battle was a war as Green, Jesse Sobbing, Gary Donaldson, Graham and Derrick Agee occasionally swapped paint as they worked to get inside each other. Lap after lap it was about who could get lower.

Sobbing eventually got lower than Donaldson and grabbed the lead in a door-rubbing pass. At the checkered it was Sobbing claiming the $3,000 prize as Donaldson came home second with a $2,000 payday.

Graham was third for a $1,000 prize, Green was fourth and Agee wound up fifth. Lasts year’s winner, Huls, drove to sixth after qualifying through a "B" feature.

Next up for I-35 Speedway is Kaster Celebration Night fueled by Casey's next Saturday, July 18, with the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring USRA Modifieds, American Racer USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods plus five additional classes.

The Christie Door Company Iron Man Challenge is slated to return to action Tuesday, July 21, at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, with both American Racer USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods in action along with the USMTS Modifieds.
