Mikulencak, Rye win on Dos Equis Night at South Texas Speedway

Brian Rye picked up the USRA Limited Mod victory Friday on Dos Equis Night at South Texas Speedway.

Rye collected his first South Texas Speedway win on the 2020 campaign by rocketing from the fifth starting position on the grid.

Cody Beddoe started the main event from the pole and outdueled Robby Minten in turn one to hold serve on the point.

Beddoe rode out front with Rye working his way to the runner-up spot. Rye used an inside move coming off turn four to get inside Beddoe and then checked out on the field en route to his first checkers.

Johnny Torres grabbed second, Beddoe was third, Cody Leonard took fourth and Robby Minten rounded out the top five.

Ben Mikulencak picked up another Sunoco USRA Factory Stock win and led the race wire to wire, holding off Jesse Sandoval who got to the back bumper of the No. 13M in lapped traffic but a caution slow the charge of Sandoval and gave Mikulencak the breathing room he needed to pick up his second win in a row in the division.

Sandoval finished second, Josh Sewell was third, Steve Grantz garnered fourth and Jerry Evans rounded out the top five.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action continues Saturday, July 11, for 1st Class Towing Night featuring Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks and USRA Limited Mods plus E-Mods, Limited Late Models and the Dwarf Car Series of Texas.
