The fourth straight night of action on the “Road to Independence” took place Friday as the Christie Door Company Iron Man Challenge built by Medieval Chassis invaded the Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa, for an event sponsored by Brown's Sales & Leasing.

Fans at the semi-banked 3/8-mile clay oval witnessed an incredible main event for the American Racer USRA Stock Cars as Kyle Falck clawed his way from the 19th starting spot to score his first victory of the season while Ben Moudry of Protivin was a wire-to-wire winner in the usra B-Mods.

Falck—the 2016 Iron Man titlist was one of four drivers from Decorah in the top five at the finish line. Waukon’s Dan Jones claimed the runner-up honors while Kevin Donlan, Mitch Hovden and Dillon Anderson rounded out the top five.

Meanwhile, Moudry capped a solid week of performances with his first Iron Man triumph of 2020 while Postville’s Josh Roney had to settle for the runner-up paycheck.

Dan Hovden of Decorah came from the outside of the sixth row to claim the third spot. Alex Zwanziger of Walker started and finished fourth while 2013 Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series USRA B-Mod national champion Troy Hovey of Decorah advanced from 13th to fifth in the feature race.

Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks were also on the card with another Decorah driver, Joshua Ludeking, putting on a display by coming from the eighth starting position to score the win.

Justin Lichty of Waterloo wound up in second place, Adam Speicher of Fredericksburg raced from 12th on the grid to finish third, Justin Hanson of Hawkeye earned a fourth-place paycheck and Monona’s Michael Minnier completed the top five.

Spectacular Saturday: The annual Fourth of July event at the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah is always a fan favorite and one that somehow makes incredible memories year after year.

In addition to the Stock Cars and B-Mods, this year’s event sponsored by Weis Buick will also showcase the Hobby Stocks, Tuners and Mod-Lites with racing at 6:30 p.m.

Situated at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds, the track is a semi-banked 1/4-mile clay oval located 1.8 miles east of US 52 on SR 9, then 1.0 mile northwest on Montgomery St., then northeast on E. Main St. (900 East Main St, Decorah, IA 52101).

Past Stock Car champions include Green (2017, 2019), Dillon Anderson (2018), Kyle Falck (2016), Tom Schmitt (2012, 2015), Mitch Hovden (2013, 2014), Mike Van Genderen (2011) and Nathan Wood (2010).

Past B-Mod champions include Boumeester (2019), Dan Hovden (2017, 2018), Andy Bryant (2016), Dakota Foster (2015), Cory Crapser (2013, 2014), Trevor Hunt (2012) and Cayden Carter (2011).
