Former Out-Pace USRA B-Mod national champion and Springfield Raceway track champion Ryan Gillmore got back to his winning ways Saturday by taking the top spot early and then checking out to leave the pack battle for second before the packed house at the Springfield Raceway.on Indigo Sky Casino "Raining Money" Night.

Gilmore, who drew what was called the stacked heat of the night, started inside row two after the redraw inverted the top four cars from the three qualifying heats.

Heat winners included defending track champion Jackie Dalton, Gillmore and West Plains hot shoe Carl Murphy.

The 20-lap feature saw Levi Phillips and Murphy bring the field to the green on the lightning-quick racy surface with Phillips taking the opening lead as Gillmore, Dalton and a thundering pack of three-wide racing followed behind.

Gillmore , who made his late model debut earlier in the evening, was riding an emotional high and carried it over as he went door to door with Phillips while Dalton, Michael Cawvey, Murphy, Cody Jolly and James Thompson swapped spots.

Once in front by lap six, Gillmore set sail on the high side and left the outstanding action behind him in taking his fourth feature win of the season.

While the action up front was keeping the crowd on edge, two big movers of the night included current USRA national points leader Sam Petty, who started the feature in 14th, rallied from a spin and charged back to finish ninth, and early season winner Justin Comer who started 17th to rally for a seventh-place finish.

the rest of the field were swapping spots and slide jobs with Jolly grabbing the runner-up finish followed by Dalton, Cawvey and Phillips.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action continues next Saturday featuring Out-Pace USRA B-Mods with a double feature night to make-up for last week's rain-out. Only the cars that were present will be eligible to run the first feature with a complete original start, then the Saturday night program will get underway.
