Former Out-Pace USRA B-Mod National Champion Ryan Gillmore of Springfield exchanged an early battle with Michael Cawvey of West Plains and then drove away to capture the 2019 season opener in a caution-free 20-lap feature event.

Following a redraw after the qualifying heats, Gillmore earned the pole spot with Cawvey alongside.

At the drop of the green, it looked as if it was going to be anybody's guess as to the outcome until lap 7 when Gillmore found something to the extreme high side of the quick quarter-mile while Cawvey found 2018 Springfield track champion Jackie Dalton applying pressure which saw both drivers all over the track attempting to find a groove that would give the other an advantage as Gillmore pulled away, leaving the field behind.

With the race for second place, Dalton was finally able to move around Cawvey to secure the runner-up spot with Cawvey close behind while a race-long battle between James Thompson and Sam Petty kept the action hot for the spot before finally finishing fourth and fifth.

The race track was awesome tonight–slick, smooth from top to bottom," Gillmore said. "The car is slowly getting better, along with the driver getting back in the rhythm again."

The track have 100 entries in all classes for the evening which honored former official Don Haase.

Qualifying heat wins went to Gillmore and Cawvey.

Out-Pace USRA B-Mod action will continue Saturday night, April 13, with a full racing program along with Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Legends and Midwest Modz.
