Jake Gallardo won the USRA Modified feature.

Thirty-two USRA Modifieds checked in Saturday night for Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action at the Southern New Mexico Speedway, with 24 of those earning a spot in the main event.

Jake Gallardo grabbed the lead at the start of the 30-lapper and never looked back. Points leader and defending track champion Bumper Jones took several shots at the leader, but the son of fifth-place finisher Royal Jones could not overtake the son of sixth-place finisher Fito Gallardo.

Jimmy Ray settled for third with Carlos Ahumada Jr. coming from 13th to claim the fourth spot.

The Holley USRA Stock Cars saw Mark Morris take the lead for the first handful of laps and remain out front despite charges from Donavon Flores and Tyler Beiter.

Flores had to settle for the runner-up paycheck behind Morris with Jed Smith finishing third. Beiter and Royal Jones rounded out the top five.

Don’t forget that next weekend we are racing on Saturday and Sunday featuring Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, plus Border Tour 360 Non-Wing Sprint Cars, NMMRA/WAR POWRi 360 Non-Wing Sprint Cars, Anthony Sosa Roofing Late Models and Casa Nissan Legends of the Southwest.

Gates open at 5 p.m. both nights with racing at 7:45. General admission is $15 with kids ages 10 and under admitted free of charge. Fans can also purchse a family pack for $35. Pit passes are $35.
