Championship season continues Friday at Lakeside Speedway

The culmination of the 2018 season at Lakeside Speedway is drawing near as just two nights of action remain during the regular race season. Friday marks the return of the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series after another successful Grant Junghans Memorial took place last weekend and saw Jake O’Neil, Patrick Royalty and Brett Heeter capture the main event wins.

This week’s program features USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods plus Grand Nationals, Factory Stocks, E-Mods and Four-Cylinders.

Kevin Anderson all but has the Holley USRA Stock Car title wrapped up as he holds down a 278-point advantage in front of former champion Brett Heeter. David Oxford is third with Nick Whalen fourth and David Holcomb now fifth.

Tim Powell and Brad Smith find themselves involved in the closest championship battle heading into this week’s action as the pair are separated by just 20 points at the top of the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod standings. Chase Galvan is now third with Luke Nieman fourth and a steadily improving Patrick Royalty in fifth.

Mark Schafman sits comfortably atop the USRA Modified division with a 120-point advantage ahead of former champion Kerry Davis in second. Nic Bidinger is third with Tim Karrick and Darron Fuqua finishing out the top five.

Drivers are reminded they must race in at least 75% of Lakeside’s weekly races to be eligible for prize money. Additional details regarding the points fund may be found on the track’s website under the Rules/Forms link from the top of the page. Once the link is activated, scroll down to the first item under “Forms.”
