Luke Sathoff’s seventh Holley USRA Stock Car win at Nobles County Speedway was worth $1,000 after he outdistanced Darrin Korthals and Rich Gregoire to the finish on Saturday.

Gregoire led the first few laps with Korthals nipping at his heels. Sathoff moved into the top three quickly from his outside row three starting position. A restart allowed Sathoff to overtake Gregoire, he then raced untouched for his seventh feature win—best among all drivers at NCS this season.

The $1,000-to-win event is being held in conjunction with another $1,000-to-win Holley USRA Stock Car race at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Originally scheduled for Friday but postponed due to rain, the race will now take place on Friday, Aug. 31. If Sathoff is able to win that night, not only will he pick up another $1,000 check but he’ll also collect a $500 bonus.

The Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature presented one of the most exciting passes of the season at the hands of points leader Justin Luinenberg.

Kole Nordquist grabbed the lead from Curt Ahlers on the second lap of the 15-lap main event. As there was still plenty of shuffling in the front of the field, Luinenburg miraculously squeezed between two front-runners on his march to the point.

Luinenberg then checked out for his fourth win. Nate Barger, in just his second appearance of the season, took second after Nordquist missed a mark. Nordquist then held off Justin Voeltz for third. Luinenburg’s lead over Dave Kennedy in the points grew to 86.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points leader Dustin Gulbrandson raced away from Dan Strandberg to earn his sixth Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stock feature win at NCS.

Gulbrandson started on the pole. Meanwhile, Nick Schilling raced in third nearly every lap, even holding off seventh-starting Justin Luinenburg. Gulbrandson’s lead is 50 points over Luinenburg with just two weeks remaining in the season.

Kent Miller won his third USRA Tuner feature. Scott Espey, second, got close at the end but his 271-point lead over the next best driver means Espey is a repeat track champion in the USRA Tuner class.
