The Clyde Ellis Memorial took the spotlight Friday evening for racing on the river’s edge at the Lakeside Speedway with 24 Out-Pace USRA B-Mods and 16 Holley USRA Stock Cars participating.

The Rick Beebe Heating & Air Smokin’ Hot Summer Series action continued with Holley USRA Stock Cars motoring their way to the track for a pair of heat races next with Brett Heeter taking command of heat #1 ahead of Kevin Anderson and Gerald Wahwahsuck. For heat #2, Sam Scott bested Tim Shields and Jaylen Wettengel.

Out-Pace USRA B-Mods competed in four heat races. Andy Bryant beat B-Mod dominator Tim Powell to the line to take the first heat race with Don Marrs third. Blake Pierce was victorious in heat #2 ahead of Brian Murphy and Sam Schuler. Luke Nieman won the third heatahead of Chase Galvin and Austin Charles and the final prelim of the night went to Brad Smith over Jett Sorensen and Tyson Lanfermann.

It appeared Brett Heeter would capture another Holley USRA Stock Car victory as he was well in command of the race until he was forced to retire early with mechanical troubles.

This opened the door for Anderson to take over the helm and ultimately capture his second feature in in a row and fifth on the season. Scott is posting solid finishes in of late and that continued Friday as he finished second to ‘The Coach’ with Shields also posting another solid run to third.

Wettengel made his way to the top 4 at the finish with David Holcomb posting a top-5 run after starting 12th.

Kevin Anderson won the Holley USRA Stock Car feature.

In Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, it was Brad Smith who won a classic showdown with former Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series and Out-Pace USRA B-Mod Iron Man Challenge champion Bryant.

The two ran close for the victory but it was Smith who prevailed on this night for his fourth win on the season.

Bryant took the second position with  Galvan again having a solid run to garner third at the finish. Nieman and Pierce rounded out the top 5.

Brad Smith won the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature.

Up Next: On Friday, Aug. 3, the Lakeside Speedway hosts the annual Kid’s Night featuring USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods plus Grand Nationals, Factory Stocks, E-Mods and Mod-Lites.

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and general admission begins at 5:30. The driver’s meeting takes place at 7:15 followed by hot laps at 7:30 and racing at 8.

Adult admission is $12, seniors 62 and over and military are $10 and all kids 12 and under are free. Pit passes are $30, kids (ages 6 and under) pit passes are $10. Suites are available for $20 with kids ages 2 to 12 just $10 for the suites.
