This Friday night, July 27, the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., hosts the annual Clyde Ellis Memorial featuring the Lucas Oil MLRA, Holley USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods and E-Mods.

Once referred to as the “Godfather of Kansas City Racing,” Ellis lived and breathed racing and began his career in Late Models in the late 50s before making the switch to race promoting by the mid-sixties when he became manager of Lakeside Speedway.

Ellis passed away in 2013 and was among the first inductee class of the CARB Hall of Fame. Friday’s events will honor Ellis’ legacy, dedication and love for the sport.

Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will join the Late Models and E-Mods for the night of racing as the quest for the season championships roll on in each of the weekly race divisions.

Tim Powell shows the way in the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod standings with seven feature wins on the season. Brad Smith, Luke Nieman, Chase Galvan and Patrick Royalty round out the top 5.

Four-time main event winner Kevin Anderson leads the Holley USRA Stock Car contingent heading into the weekend with Brett Heeter, David Oxford, Nick Whalen and Dakota Jennings among the top-5 standings.

Due to the summer heat Lakeside Speedway will continue with the 30-minute later start times through Sept. 7. This Friday, the pit gate opens at 5 p.m., spectator gates open at 5:30, the drivers meeting starts at 7:15, hot laps begin at 7:30 and racing gets underway at 8.

General admission is $20, seniors (65+) and military are $16, kids (7-12) are $10 and children under 6 are free. Air-conditioned suites tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids (2-10). Pit passes for adults are $35, kids (6 and under) are $10. A family pass is available this weekend for $50 which includes admission for two adults, two kids and a coupon for two hot dogs and two drink jammers. Driver points sheet winners will have a chance to play for prizes during the intermission break.
