Four-time national champion Dustin Gulbrandson won the Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stock feature.

Dan Strandberg began the 2017 season with three straight wins in the Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stock division en route to a track title. Four-time defending USRA Hobby Stock national champion Dustin Gulbrandson of Sioux Falls, S.D., will attempt to start this season with three consecutive victories after winning Saturday night's feature.

From the pole, Gulbrandson led every lap for his second win in as many weeks. Fellow TDR Chassis racer Tyler Schlumbohm battled with Strandberg, swapping second and third a couple of times. Strandberg eventually won the race for second ahead of Schlumbohm, Keeran Sampson and Austin Jahnz. A winner of one of the "B" Features, Jahnz passed nine cars in coming from 14th to fifth.

There was no shortage of excitement in the Holley USRA Stock car division. Justin Regnerus of Middleburg, Iowa, led early while Luke Sathoff moved up from seventh. Sathoff eventually grabbed the lead while a remarkable side-by-side battle raged between Levi Feltman and Roger Verdoorn, who moved up from ninth.

The attention-grabbing action may have overshadowed Sathoff’s march to his first win of the season as he pulled away from the two. Feltman re-took second from Verdoorn before the finish. Jon DeBoer outlasted Spenser Kalass in a similar bout for fourth.

Miah Christensen and Justin Luinenberg were front and center again after the two raced each other for the win in last week’s Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature—a race that saw Christesen win his first-ever Iron Man Challenge event. This time the two raced side-by-side—Christensen starting second and Luinenberg 11th—until they got together in turn one. Unfortunately, both cars took on too much damage to continue.

At that point, Andrew Ahlers of Baltic, S.D., inherited the lead. He had passed two cars to get to third when the caution appeared. Ahlers led the remainder of the feature for his first win of the season, beating Dustin Kruse and Wade Wright to the finish. Devon Schlumbohm could’ve used a few more laps as he was making huge gains late in the feature. Schlumbohm found the high line to his liking, coming from 13th to fourth.

The USRA Tuners feature thrilled fans for a second straight week. Joshua Uhl of Luverne made his first start. He immediately took the lead from the third position. After enjoying a comfortable lead, he edged Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points leader Nate Coopman and Bubba Brown at the checkered flag. Coopman, now with two seconds, leads Brown by 12 points in the standings.

In all, 93 cars came through the gate for racing action on Bushard Financial Services Night.

Nobles County Speedway is proud to host Salute to Agriculture Night this Saturday, June 16, with free grandstand admission for all. Hot laps are scheduled for 7 p.m. Holley USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners return along with the Late Model Street Stock Touring Series and NCS Sportsmans.
