The annual Charlie Kraft Memorial took place at the Lakeside Speedway Friday in honor of the Central Auto Racing Boosters Hall of Fame driver with 42 USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods on hand for racing.

The Holley USRA Stock Car heat race victory went to Jake Newman of Smithville, Mo., after a frightening crash by last week’s feature winner Gary Donaldson who walked away from a multiple roll-over in turn three.

Tim Powell of Lansing, Luke Nieman of Nortonville and Jayden Bears of Smithville were the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod heat winners.

Wrapping up the preliminary heat races were the USRA Modifieds as Rodney Sanders of Worthington, Minn., Darron Fuqua of Mayetta and Nic Bidinger of Perry scored the wins.

When racing resumed for the main events, Kansas City's Kevin Anderson broke a year-long winless streak with a victory in Holley USRA Stock Car action while Powell collected his second consecutive victory in Out-Pace USRA B-Mod action with a dominating performance.

USMTS regular Lucas Schott dropped in on the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action and collected the victory over Fuqua who led early in the 20-lap USRA Modified main event.

Next Thursday, May 10, the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will be racing for track, regional and national USRA points when they join the ASCS Sprint Cars and E-Mods. Then on Friday, May 11, weekly racing resumes with USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods plus Grand Nationals, Factory Stocks and E-Mods. When at the track, tune your radio dial to 87.7 FM for a radio broadcast of all the action.
