Ryan Gillmore won the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature.

Opening night of the Rancho Milagro Short Track Shootout was a windy and cold one, but the racing made it all worth it. Ninety-five cars and drivers accumulated within the USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods.

The reigning 2017 Out-Pace USRA B-Mod national champion Ryan Gillmore of Springfield, Mo., made the trip to the Land of Enchantment again, looking for more hardware with the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods.

The 20-lap feature started with Nathan Smith leading the opening six laps with three cations. On lap seven, Josh "Hurricane" Cain made some noise and scored the lead. Three laps into his spotlight, Gillmore started making a creep.

The yellow flew on lap ten, and Gillmore charged on the restart but couldn't get it. Gillmore then changed lanes and marched to the top on lap 12. Making the trip from the Show-Me State paid off as he cashed the opening night check.

Canyon Lake, Texas, racer G.W. Egbert drove his way to Holley USRA Stock Car victory lane in round one of three.

Michael Sheen led the opening four laps until Egbert went around him on lap five of 15. Egbert broke out to a beefy lead over Sheen who was alone in second. Tony Hill sliced his way to third over Cary White and Allen Bradly. The cars spread out during the feature with good battles for third and fourth.

G.W. Egbert won the Holley USRA Stock Car feature.

Returning to his home track Friday, Stormy Scott led the final 35 of 40 laps in the co-sanctioned USRA and USMTA Modified main event.

After grabbing the lead from Lucas Schott with five laps complete, Scott raced away from the field and survived four cautions—including two in the final six laps—to earn a $3,450 payday on the 3/8-mile clay oval.

Jake O'Neil, who captured last his first USMTS win six days ago in his home state of Arizona, started deep in the field but raced his way past a dozen drivers to nab the runner-up honors, along with both the FK Rod Ends Hard Charger Awards and Eibach Spring Forward Award.

Terry Phillips challenged Scott early on before settling for a third-place paycheck at the checkered flag, while Zack VanderBeek held off Schott for the fourth spot. Dereck Ramirez came from 23rd on the grid to claim sixth, seventh went to Rodney Sanders, R.C. Whitwell crossed the finish line eighth, Bumper Jones was ninth and Joe Duvall rounded out the top ten.

Stormy Scott won the USRA Modified feature.

Action continues Saturday and Sunday with Legends Cars and Late Models rounding out the five-division program both nights.

On Saturday, gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. General admission is $12 or a family pack is available for $30. On Sunday, gates open at 3 p.m. with racing at 5 p.m. General admission is $15, and the family pack is $35. Pit passes are $40 each night and kids ages 10 and under get in free both days.
