WARRENSBURG, Mo.—Saturday night produced near-perfect weather as 102 drivers checked in for racing and fun for the whole family for competition at the Central Missouri Speedway.

USRA Modifieds were in full force again on Saturday as 29 drivers competed in four outstanding heat races to begin their portion of the program. Heat one went to Ryan Middaugh over last week’s feature winner Dalton Kirk and Terry Schultz. Shad Badder fought off Robbie Test and Danny Scrogham in heat two with Gunner Martin besting Eric Turner and Lewis Jackson in heat three. The final heat of the night went to Kevin Blackburn ahead of Jim Moody and Nathan Vaughn. In the B-main, six drivers advanced to the feature including Dean Wille, Colson Kirk, Kaleb Bray, Brian Johnson, Richard Layne and David Wood.

Badder and current points leader, Blackburn earned the front row starting positions for the USRA Modified main event. Badder established himself as the early leader and driver to beat. Meanwhile, Test, Martin, Moody, and Matt Dotson looked for race lines to move up into the top three.

Blackburn stayed in the second spot until late in the race as Dotson used the high and low side to finally take the second spot away from Blackburn and Moody. It looked like Badder was on his way to victory lane after leading the first 24 laps, but on the final turn in tight lapped traffic, Dotson somehow found a high side lane and nosed past Badder and won the final feature of the night, setting himself up as a favorite for the final Labor Day USRA Modified special of the year with his win last night.

If Dotson can win the Labor Day Special on Sunday, September 4th to go along with his Memorial Day Weekend special-event win, he could walk away a $2,500 bonus for winning two of the three scheduled big-money CMS special events. Badder held on to finish second in a heart-breaking loss to Dotson with Blackburn third, Moody fourth, and last week’s feature winner Dalton Kirk rounding out the top five.
