Kids Night, Military Tailgate highlight CMS action this weekend

WARRENSBURG, Mo.—The week that racing kids and their friends look forward to the most every year at Central Missouri Speedway has arrived as the track is set to host its annual Kids Night festivities this Saturday. Every kid 12 years and younger will receive a free hot dog and drink as part of the celebration. In addition, all kids aged 3 to 12 years may come down to the track during intermission and compete in each of the foot races in girls and boys age divisions.

Foot races are not all the staff has planned. All kids in attendance this weekend will have a chance at winning extra prizes including bicycles and backpacks, plus all kids will take home a free goodie bag stuffed with donated items from the racing family, including drivers, fans, track staff, and volunteers. In the past these items have included school supplies, toys/trinkets, candy, gift coupons, driver hero cards, and other items.

The CMS staff will assemble the bags on Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m. Any last-minute donations should be brought to the track by 10 a.m. in order to disburse the items into the different age-group bags. For additional Kid’s Night information visit the CMS website at www.centralmissourispeedway.net and click on the link entitled “Kids Night Info for August 1st.”

Prior to the races this Saturday CMS invites military members to the speedway for military appreciation night. The track donated items for a hot dog tailgate party, which begins at 4 p.m. on the front side of the speedway in the main parking lot off Highway 13. The cookout will take place prior to the races. Guests will have the luxury of relaxing under a shaded area and tent. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and any picnic-type games of their own. After the cookout, CMS invites all Active Duty and Guard/Reserve personnel with I.D. to come to the races for just $5! Coolers are allowed at the tailgate but are not allowed inside the the grandstand area.

All four weekly race divisions will compete Saturday night including USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, B-Mods and Pure Stocks. Drivers in all divisions will race in preliminary heat races and then later in the night will run main-event programs.
