Three classes added to USRA Weekly Racing Series in 2015
WEBSTER CITY, Iowa--Officials with the United States Racing Association (USRA) are pleased to announce the sanctioning of three new classes of cars for the 2015 race season. In conjunction with several tracks in the Texas and Louisiana area, USRA will add the popular Factory Stock cars as one of its new sanctioned classes.
“We have worked with several area tracks in the region and have adopted their rules. This will offer the drivers a nice point’s fund for supporting their weekly tracks and a lucrative National Point’s Fund based on the driver’s 20 best race nights throughout the 2015 season,” stated USRA Director Todd Staley.
In addition to the point’s fund, drivers will have access to the $50,000 insurance policy that comes with the purchase of their USRA license. Staley went on to say, “We have met with several key personnel from these tracks and they all showed interest in sanctioning their Factory Stock events with the USRA banner.”
The track point’s funds will feature a possible $500 top prize with the USRA National Factory Stock Champion pocketing a cool $2,000 paycheck at the conclusion of the season. Rules have already been posted at www.usraracing.com.
Limited Late Models is the second new class to fall under the USRA sanctioning body. The coming season marks the first season for Late Model drivers to participate in an expanded race program thanks to the cooperation between track officials and USRA.
Mississippi Thunder Speedway promoter Bob Timm has been hard at work in Fountain City, Wisconsin for the last several months working on rules. Towards the end of last season, Timm even had a car at the track available for testing during the last few races of the year.
Timm stated, “Drivers loved the car and several drivers showed interest in the class, I expect we will start off with around 12 cars but by the end of the year we could be approaching the 18 to 20 area. Drivers will be able to run for a possible $600 track point’s fund, which will include payout for the top ten drivers. As the class grows, USRA will grow along with the class and offer a National Point’s Fund. Rules will be posted on the USRA website at a later date.
The third and final new USRA-sanctioned car class will be Limited Modifieds. USRA will work directly with various tracks, several of which use similar rules for the class. USRA officials have found that many tracks utilize similar rules but recognize there are differences. Regarding the new class, USRA will allow tracks to use their already in-place rules for Limited Modifieds.
USRA has put together a lucrative Track and National Point’s Fund for the tracks willing to sanction the class under the USRA banner. In addition to the point’s funds, drivers purchasing their USRA license will receive the USRA insurance program that will cover them from the time they leave home until they return home from racing at a USRA track.
