Harder, O’Neal victorious at Lakeside Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Max Harder became the 12th different driver to win a first feature race at Lakeside Speedway when he led from green to checkered in the USRA B-Mod main event Friday night. The 15-lap event initially had Shadren Turner giving chase until lapped traffic pushed him back a few spots. Yancy Shephard made good use of his racecar by racing from sixth to second, challenging for the lead at the end. Turner finished third to Tim Powell. Ed Noll rounded out the top five.

The USRA Stock Car feature saw three different leaders in the course of the 15-lap race. Initially it looked as if Nick Whalen would finally pick up his first victory but Justin Seifert clearly had no intentions of letting that happen as he took the lead on lap 5. John O’Neal Jr. made good use of a restart one lap later, taking the lead and never looking back. Current points leader Brett Heeter raced from eighth to finish second ahead of Seifert. Whalen held on for a fourth-place finish, edging out Anthony Whitham.

“Racing on the River’s Edge” continues every Friday night through October with the USRA Modifieds, USRA B-Mods and USRA Stock Cars plus Grand Nationals. Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:45 and the first race gets underway at 7:30. Adult ticket prices are $12, kids ages 7 to 12 are $6 and children 6 and younger are admitted free. Seniors and military personnel with ID are admitted for $10.
