Central Missouri Speedway to feature USRA Modifieds, grand reopening this Saturday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- After a two-year hiatus, the highly-anticipated reopening of the Central Missouri Speedway takes place this Saturday, April 26, featuring USRA Modifieds plus B-Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks.

CMS officials received confirmation from the United States Racing Association (USRA) late Wednesday afternoon regarding its request for USRA to sanction the track’s weekly Modified racing. Modifieds will compete under the USRA banner at CMS in 2014.

“We are very excited to partner with Central Missouri Speedway, and welcome their staff, drivers and fans to the USRA family,” said Lon Oelke, Director of Growth & Partnerships for the USRA. “As an organization, we pride ourselves on being loyal to the owner-operators of those racetracks that trust the USRA as their sanctioning partner. For that reason, we were unable to approve a sanction for CMS several months ago because of the proximity to another USRA-sanctioned track. Earlier this week, however, that track dropped the Modified division from their Saturday line-up which reopened the opportunity to showcase the USRA Modifieds to the fans in and around Warrensburg.”

This weekend’s featured guest class is the Impact Signs, Awnings and Wraps WAR (Wingless Auto Racing) Sprint Series, marking their first-ever appearance at CMS.

Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and grandstands open for race fans at 5 p.m.

Admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6 to 10 and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Tickets are just $10 for seniors (age 65 and older) and active duty military with ID. Persons permanently confined to a wheelchair also receive free grandstand admission.

Prior to opening night, CMS invites you to the track's Grand Re-Opening and Official Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, April 24, at 10 a.m. The event is free and takes place on the main grandstand side in the concessions area.
