The Southern New Mexico Speedway put on a show for the fans on the eve of Mothers Day as it was the 2014 season opener for the USRA Modifieds and USRA Stock Cars.
With over 110 cars jamming the pits on a balmy May evening this past Saturday, May 10th at Lucas Oil Speedway and the cameras of KSPR rolling, Terry Schultz and Steve Muilenburg visited the RACEceiver victory lane.
Saturday night at the I-90 Speedway ended with a good story as Shawn Reed won his first race in almost seven years. When he left the sport at the end of 2007, Reed was at the top of I-90 Speedway's career wins list.
Jeremy Vaughn won his first USRA Modified feature of the year Saturday night at the Tri-State Speedway and became the fifth different winner this season. In USRA B-Mod action, Chris Hawkins won his fifth main event in a row.
Races for I-35 Speedway were cancelled after heat races on May 10 due to the threat of severe weather.
Due to current conditions and the pending forecast the races for tonight have been cancelled at Deer Creek Speedway. The anticipation for tonight's races was rising as the afternoon went on.
The second race of the 2014 season for the USRA Modifieds was great with Fito Gallardo going for two wins in a row while the USRA Stock Cars also made a return to give the fans a treat and what their money was worth Friday night.
Again this season, Mississippi Thunder Speedway was graced with the presence of a pack of visiting drivers as other tracks in the area couldn’t handle all the moisture Mother Nature poured down on the area.
Darron Fuqua proved tonight at the Lakeside Speedway that the race isn’t over until the checkered flag flies as he made a late-race pass of Nic Bidinger to claim the USRA Modified feature win.
The sun finally came out on Friday after heavy rains missed the Chateau Raceway on Thursday. It was a nice night for the season opener which had been delayed four weeks by inclement weather. Seventy-five cars were on hand and the fans witnessed some good racing.

After a highly successful grand re-opening and stellar night of racing last Saturday, the staff and crew at the Central Missouri Speedway will take this Saturday, May 10, off from racing.
